Well, too bad we didn't know this ahead of time, but you'll get the link for listening online below: Internet Food Forum habitue Erik M. was the guide to regional Thai food (like he knows anything about that) for Steve Dolinsky on WBEZ's 848, the show that's named for a time about 45 minutes before it starts, this morning.

    Hear here.
Watch Sky Full of Bacon, the Chicago food HD podcast!
New episode: Soil, Corn, Cows and Cheese
Watch the Reader's James Beard Award-winning Key Ingredient here.

Cool. Congratulations to Erik. You know, I found out recently that it's called 848 not for the time it starts (because you're right, it doesn't) but because that's the address of the studio -- 848 East Grand Avenue (Navy Pier). But maybe you already knew that and I was the only one in the dark.

Oh, Toni - I used to think the same thing about 848. But because I was in the office by then, it wasn't until about a year ago when I worked at home for a while that I realized that was wrong - when 8:48 a.m. rolled around, I expected 848. That didn't make me feel very smart at all. So glad I wasn't the only one.

Erik M., great job there on the radio. Thanks for your continuing generosity. I recently scrolled through the Beyond Chicagoland board preparing for a trip to L.A., and your posts and pictures are determining my culinary itinerary.

And do you think you could give Dolinsky a Chicago geography lesson after the Thai lesson? Since when is Irving-Western the "far north side"? Well, that may explain why it's a "few neighborhoods away" from Leland and Damen.
