    Important Reminder:

    LTH,

Please, do not post about a closing without making absolutely certain that your information is correct and accurate in every way.

Please, do not post rumors of closings without linking to a credible, 3rd-party source that substantiates your report. (i.e. "Eater.com reports . . ." is ok)

It's far more important to be accurate than early with your information. The best course of action may be to make a phone call to the establishment before posting anything. But whatever you do, make sure you are 100% correct before posting about a closing on this thread or any other in these forums.

    Thanks again,

So I've googled and googled and surprised you guys have missed this one.

NOK has been open for a little while now. It's Mir's Noon-0-Kabab expansion to Norwood Park / Gladstone Park neighborhood. Right at the corner of Milwaukee and Elston here on the Northwest side. Fast casual service and darn great food.

It's been there for several months. That little pocket is finally starting to diversify. Nice to see some change in the (almost) neighborhood.

Weird there was no mention of it yet on LTH, dontcha think?

I'm calling that stretch of N. Milwaukee Ave, Restaurant Row, these days. Lots of fine places in 2013.

BTW, I've been to NOK 6 times since they've opened. Just tuned back into LTH recently.

I forgot to mention that I visited a couple weeks after they opened and was decidedly underwhelmed, though it was a step up from the previous place that inhabited that location of the dead. I wish it was still Cozy Corner.

Closing on 1/6 with hopes to reopen somewhere in the neighborhood at a yet to be determined time and place. I hope to find time for one more visit before they close.

Noticed a restaurant near Lawrence & Elston called Shibam City. Has it been open long? It's a Yemeni restaurant (how many of these does Chicago have, if any?) and has been getting some favorable online reviews I see.

My friend who had dinner there on New Years Eve told me that her waitress said they are still in negotiations for a location on Lawrence by Harvestime.

I have. We were quite pleased, but then again, when lamb is involved we're easy targets.

This is actually a different restaurant, but it's good to know. The one you posted is from 4748 N Kenneth Ave while the one I posted is from 4807 N Kenneth Ave. The reviews on some sites, and this one are pretty favorable (though I hope none of them are from the owners/management):

I've never had Yemeni food but I'm a big fan of Middle Eastern food, so I need to try this place. Saw some pictures on another site too and it looks delicious. I guess there are two Yemeni restaurants right near each other. There must be some Yemeni people in that area huh?

Doesn't matter. The one that appears to have opened within the last few months has all stellar reviews so far and seems to be from people who know the cuisine.
