Salak / Snake Fruit

I just returned from Indonesia where I encountered a wonderful fruit called Salak or Snake (Skin) Fruit.

It is crunchy, slightly sweet, and has a taste of apple and bubble gum.

Is it possible to get this in any form in Chicago?

I have no idea if the two taste at all alike, but the Salak does look a bit like Mangosteen. I have seen frozen Mangosteen at H-Mart.
