Thanks to Cathy for all the delicious Russian appetizers! What a treat!
The desserts didn't last long once they arrived home, and the "youngsters" hit upon them.
Most delicious and a nice variety.

Thanks to Cathy and her peeps for hosting! I was happy to have seconds of almost everything. That mushroom dish and the pate and blintzes were really something, but that whole meal was fantastic.

    Meal:

    - Chopped chicken livers
    - Mushrooms in sour cream sauce
    - Roasted beets grated with some garlic, chopped walnuts and mayonnaise to combine
    - Cream puff shells filled with finely grated Swiss cheese, garlic and sour cream to combine
    - Blinchiki* - blini filled with beef and caramelized onions, then pan fried. Americans would call them blintzes, Russians call them blinchiki.
    - Pickled herring I made from salted herring bought at Shop & Save just before Christmas
    - Bulgarian Shopska salad with finely grated feta cheese on top

*If it had been colder, it would have been pelmeni instead of blinchiki.

    irisarbor brought carrots and dip.

My dessert contribution was a galette de rois or French variant of a King Cake. I should have made my own puff pastry and didn't. Filling leaked out of the one made from frozen puff pastry that may have been past its prime.

If I forgot something, someone send me a PM.

    Regards,

1-12-13 181.jpg OK, I finally figured it out. Many of my photos were over 2 MB, too big. I'm sorry I'm not technically up to resizing photos. However, I have faithfully posted every photo under 2 MB!
