How many pieces of sushi/sashimi/tempura should you have per person for a one-hour lunch? Is 6 too few? Thanks!

Are you serving anything else? If not, that seems a bit skimpy. Any rolls or sushi?

Some people can eat far more, but for me that would be the limit. Maybe up it to seven or so just to make sure. I know some people that can eat a great deal of sushi.

The whole menu so far are corn and cream croquettes, veg rolls, a party tray that includes sashimi, maki and sushi, and veg tempura. It equals 96 pieces, so for our current guest list of 11, that's 8.5 each, but we usually get about 16, which comes out to 6. I never counted sushi for a lunch meal before, only as an appetizer on a menu with plenty of other appetizers.

Maybe you could add a big bowl of edamame as another side dish?

A typical sushi combo at a sushi restaurant is 6-8 pieces of nigiri and a 6-piece roll.

    Hi,

Sashimi is a good idea for the low- to no-carb diners. Otherwise they nip the fish off the sushi leaving something nobody wants behind.

You may want some miso soup to help fill people up, too, which might come complimentary. Or at least ask if it is complimentary initially, because it might not be something they do for take-out.

If your budget allows, I would order more than less. People have a tendency to eat more when it is a buffet, especially if it is complimentary.

    Regards,
