Are there any Irish bakeries around? I tried to contact Galway Bakers, but I haven't heard from them. I figure there's got to be one on the south side, but I'm coming up empty!

Nothing specific really, I just figured there must be a place that sells your typical shortbread, soda bread, barm brack, etc., and Galway's all I came up with. There seems to be plenty of stores that sell British/Irish packaged stuff, but not freshly made.

I'd check Spencer's Jolly Posh and if they don't have it, I would bet they could point you in the right direction.

Winston's Market in Tinley Park carries soda bread and brown bread that they bake themselves on 63rd near Midway. The 63rd Street place isn't a full-scale retail store but they'd probably hold some bread there for you if you call and tell them exactly what you want. The Tinley Park store is a large, well-stocked Irish market.

Wolf's Bakery in Evergreen Park makes an Irish soda bread (and maybe other Irish-ish stuff) but it's so sweet and raisin-filled it seems closer to coffee cake than soda bread.

They have a bakery, I've gotten sausage rolls and other small pastries and been happy with them.
