GrubWithUs used to set up family style dinners amongst strangers at different restaurants around the city. For $20-30 you could get a really good meal and meet new people. I know they shut down last year. Has anyone used this service or something similar? I am curious about your experience.

    Hi,

I don't miss it, because I never heard of it. I usually check out Events on this board.

In Chinatown, there is a group whose name is roughly Chopstix (sticks?) Club. Their dinners revolve solely around Chinatown.

MeetUp seems to have a number of dinner get togethers. I have only gone a few times to one that meets in Highland Park area. It was more social than food centric, so it wasn't very interesting to me.

I have thought this idea of sharing homecooked meals could be interesting. I keep thinking I want to go to one just for the experience or at least understand how they work.

    Regards,
