Hammond,
Not so much I taught Robert Sr. anything, the man has the touch, or as some of my BBQ acquaintance call it, the Magic Fork, and his first brisket was better than most BBQ guys 100th. All I did was show Robert my brisket cutting technique of separating point from flat, making it easier to see the grain in the meat, therefore easier to slice against the grain.
Wagyu Brisket at Honey 1

The wagyu brisket had a rich full beef flavor accented nicely by the occasional bite of spicy crunchy outside fat. It was really quite delicious.

Robert Adams seemed pleased with the results.

As did our group of LTHer's, especially this LTHer.

Again, sincere thanks to the Adams and Honey 1.

After fueling up on wagyu brisket, terrific house breaded chicken wings, tips, links and spare ribs, we were off to the
Windy City Rollers bout at the Congress Theater.

From my perspective all that really needs to be said about the Roller Derby match is that's it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys, and about as genteel.

Picture 60 big, healthy, athletic and, in many cases, strikingly pretty, women mixing it up on roller skates.

Phil McCracken, intrepid floor reporter, made with the jokes while interviewing Roller Girls, and, along with the announcer, kept things rolling along.

Energy was high, both crowd and Roller Girls, even to the extend of a post game Roller Girl 'brawl' in the lobby after the match.

After the bout a few of us went to the Liar's Club, one of the Windy City Rollers sponsors, and had drinks with Juanna Rumble, Phil McCracken and, seemingly, half of the Congress Theater crowd and Windy City Rollers. Liar's Club seems a great bar but, to put it mildly, not really to my demographic, ie over 50 and no tattoos.

I did see a couple of people I knew, friends of my neighbors son and his wife (Tommy/Laura), who expressed surprise that my wife and I were at the Liar's Club. "Gary, what the hell are
you doing here?" As an aside, Laura designs latex fetish wear and her company,
Vex Clothing, is becoming quite well known.
After soaking in the ambiance, and plenty of booze, at the Liar's Club MsWiv, Peter Daane, MHL, m'th'su, Juanna Rumble and her friend went to Diner Grill, home of the Rene G approved Slinger, don't ask, just eat.

Where both m'th'su and Juanna ordered Slingers.

And then topped them off with giardiniera.

While Juanna did not finish her Slinger, m'th'su finished his, and part of Juanna's, and received the prestigious Diner Grill Slinger Certificate.
In addition to Slingers, Diner Grill, which is open 24/7, does diner food really well, including traditional shakes.

All in all a terrific LTH outing, from start to finish with the added bonus of meeting a couple of LTHers for the first time.
Enjoy,
Gary
