I had my heart set on Little Joe's on Taylor Street last night. I got there only to find the place closed. Does anyone have any information on this? I thought about popping into the Members Only Italian club next door to inquire, but instead sought other food options on Taylor.

    K:

When you say closed, you mean just unexpectedly not open rather than looking as if they've ceased operations and closed down for good, no? In any event, I'll ask around; living in the Taylor Street neighbourhood (albeit on the "westside"), I know people who know the people who run Little Joe's.

Have you eaten there before? If so, can you say something about the place and the food? Looking at the menu in the window once, I got the impression they might be Sicilian but can no longer remember what dish or dishes were listed that gave me that impression. I've mentioned before (actually probably several times) that I buy their sausage at Masi's and like it very much.

    Antoniuous,

Yes, I'd say it looked as though it was just closed unexpectedly rather than ceasing operations. There was a note in the door, "We'll open at 3 today" but then doors locked, lights off, etc.

I love their food, especially their sausage and they also have a great beef sandwich. The food leans toward the Sicilian in my opinion, but with also a number of standard Italian dishes on the menu.

Thanks; that's good news. I need to get over there one of these days.

I have got to say that they do indeed have amazing sicilian sausage and the owners are very pleasant people. However, the ONLY reason to go there is for the sausage. Their sauce leaves much to be desired and comes out rather bland and tastes almost store bought. It's definitely worth the trip and return visits but only for those who are fans of encased meats.
