Curious if either of these places are worth a visit. Driven by a couple of times and parking lots are busy, looks like they could be good bar food.

I've been to Brandt's on the recommendation of their burgers in this thread. I only went once last winter. It felt like one of those places where people are regulars b/c they didn't have printed menus. Their burgers were quite large and really juicy to the point that it was really messy. It was good.

My nephew & I went to Brandt's last night for dinner. Place isn't that large & most of the tables were filled at 5:15pm when we arrived. While I didn't see anyone eating at the bar (or at the standup thin wall counter along a wall near the bar), I did see condiments on the bar so I'm assuming that one can dine at the bar.)

Lots of history to this place, old farmhouse from early 1900s, was moved to present location in the late 1930s as a speakeasy.

Burger is 1/2lb burger for $8.95 with lettuce, tomato, onion and choice of two sides* as well as bun & cheese choice
choice of bun: sesame, butter, rye, pretzel
choice of cheese: American, Swiss, Provolone, Muenster, Cheddar, Blue Cheese
    mushrooms: $1.25 extra
    bacon: $1.75 extra
*sides: Steak fries, hand cut fried, sweet potato fries, homemade chips, baked potato, mac n cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, veggie of day

I ordered a burger cooked to a med rare on a pretzel bun, came out a med. All in all a good burger but just didn't have the umami pop I expect with great burgers. I also had the hand cut fries & coleslaw as my sides, slaw was meh as were the hand cut fries. So IMO Brandt's is worth a stop if in the area & looking for a burger in a tavern setting but I wouldn't make it a destination.

The following is probably blaspheme to state on LTH but I'd like to see a smaller size burger.

    Brandt's of Palatine
807 W NW Hwy (SW corner of Quentin & NW Highway (Rt 14))
    Palatine, IL 60067

open for lunch & dinner Mon-Sat, closed Sundays
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Stopped by the White House today. White House does not serve food except for frozen pizza they will heat up for you.

Looks like a nice bar for cheap drinks/beers in a low key atmosphere

    White House Inn
801 W Palatine Rd (just west of Quentin Rd)
