On my phone so this will be brief...

Husbands birthday dinner Saturday. 2 people, around 8pm. Have a 6:30pm tour of Chicago Distilling Company so would prefer somewhere closer to Logan Square. Farm to table, sustainable, organic, etc is a must. Big tax bill coming up so $150-200 for 2 people, with drinks. Tried and true faves are Longman, Lula, Bristol, etc.

Suggestions?? Yusho and Table Donkey and Stick are available but have mixed reviews...Hubs will get cranky if not fed so I don't want to take a risk on no reservations.

Green Street Smoked Meats will be great place. Have you ever been their? If not, I think you must give it a try.

Have not been, but hubs loves BBQ. We looked at it but couldn't find any info re: source of meat so gave up.

It's elevated Mexican but Masa Azul might fit the bill-- I know Jonathan does source a lot of local produce and their goats are raised in Indiana. And it's a nice place to celebrate, particularly if you enjoy Mezcal and Tequila since their selection is excellent.

Aaah...we do love Masa Azul...maybe one to keep in mind if I'm turned off of Yusho or TDS.

I should say, if the restaurant uses locally sourced products, particularly meat, and is relatively well-known, we've probably eaten at it. I know that's not really helpful... :) I'm sure there are some that we've missed though (like TDS), so I'm open to suggestions!!

I didn't know Yusho had mixed reviews. Personally, I'm a fan.

Also wasn't aware the Yusho (or TDS for that matter) had any particular emphasis on locally sourced, sustainable, etc. etc.

Yusho I'm not sure about, which was another hesitation of mine. TDS I'm pretty confident does. From TDS's site - "The kitchen works with local farmers and whole animals whenever possible, and all breads and charcuterie items are made in-house."

If you're considering Yusho then I'd recommend also adding Analogue to your list of contenders. It's very similar, but with ore of a New Orleans bent.

The Radler is almost next door to Chicago Distilling Company and their website does say that they use locally sourced meat. I was there on Sunday, and my friends and I really enjoyed the food. They do have individual tables in addition to the communal ones, as well.

Awesome suggestion! I'd not heard of Analogue, but it is right up our alley. Whaddaya think the wait would be like at 8pm-ish on a Saturday night?

We've been to TWO many times and always love the food.

Also been to The Radler several times.

:) Like I said, if the place is local/sustainable/all-that-portlandia-stuff, we've likely been there! :D

I'm totally jazzed about Analogue though! How could I never have heard of it?!?

Analogue is terrific but I didn't recommend because at 8:00-8:30 on a Saturday night, the wait is likely to be substantial (the place is tiny) and they don't take reservations. It's also a very casual menu--extremely delicious--but casual none-the-less.

Duly noted on the wait time - darn. We don't really mind casual, as long as the food/atmosphere are great.

Telegraph? Reno? Put name in at a few, have a drink at Billy Sunday and see who calls you first?
