I host a monthly cooking club and it would nice to chat with someone that is familiar with this type of food. Please e-mail me tajmahal_72003@yahoo.com

You might want to check out this online database of recipes:

    http://www.nativetech.org/recipes/index.php

The database can be searched various ways, including by region, by type of dish, and whether a dish uses only indigenous ingredients or if it is a more contemporary sort of adaptation.

Warning: some of these dishes may be too authentic for the cooking club. :) (ones with moose, prairie dog, a stew made with crow brains...)

More realistic options would probably be:

    fry bread

corn, beans, squash/pumpkin (known as the three sisters by the Iroquois)

    maybe something with wild rice

a stew of venison, if you can get it, or rabbit, or turkey

for dessert, probably just berries. Or something sweetened with maple syrup.

    Good luck!
