    Discuss

I had it the first time it came out I thought it was a bit salty but then again I'm a sucker for anything deep fried, I'd probably try it again so I guess I'm taste bud challenged, lol!

    Hi,

What is it? Should I be tempted or should I check out once because it is so awful you have to try it to believe it?

I know it is Kentucky Fried Chicken, do they have a bone in anything anymore?

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    From Wikipedia:

Wikipedia wrote:The Double Down is a sandwich offered by Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The Double Down contains "bacon, two different kinds of melted cheese, the Colonel’s secret sauce... pinched in between two pieces of Original Recipe chicken fillets."[1] It is also available with grilled chicken fillets instead of the Original Recipe fried fillets, as well as being available with KFC's Zinger fillets (hot and spicy) to customers in Australia and South Africa. The KFC Double Down was initially test marketed in Omaha, Nebraska and Providence, Rhode Island.[2] KFC describes the Double Down as a "sandwich" although it does not have bread.

Basically it's a sandwich that has bacon, melted cheese, some sort of sauce, but instead of sandwich buns they use 2 battered and deep fried fried chicken fillets. They first came out with it in 2010 I believe. I wonder if KFC is trying to follow the McRib lead by offering it for a limited time only. I'm a sucker for a McRib but that's a topic for another thread. Lol!

    Hi,

Thanks guys for the explanations of the Double Down! It certainly is a great selection for the anti-carb tribe. I wonder if they will offer a grilled version for those who really won't touch a carb.

My Mom is the big McRib fan in this house. We may get a Double Down for the experience.

    Again, thanks!

    Cathy2

    Hi,

The sandwich I was unaware of is the subject of reimagining at Epicurious with recipes!

Double Down Hot Dogs Exist. Yes, KFC Has Actually Gone There

Yes -- it's exactly what you think it is. A fried chicken hot dog bun surrounding a hot dog covered in a cheesy, slimy sauce of sorts. It even looks like there are bits of relish in the sauce.

Currently, the Double Down Dog is only being sold in the Philippines from January 26-27 and most locations have already sold out.
