Vincent is lively, the service is entertaining and the food is good--and they have mussels! What they don't have much of is "dutch" food ;) Unlikely it would be as good as what she'll get when she's over there anyway. But it's a fun place to celebrate and I bet you and your daughter will enjoy it. Have fun and congratulations!

All my searches turn up lots of beers (Hopleaf)and mussels. She's turning 20 so no beer! Any other Belgian-ish restaurants around?

Lucky daughter! Sujormik, neither Leopold nor Hopleaf was/is anything like restaurants in Belgium so don't feel bad about not going there with your daughter. Leuven is fantastic (we just came back from there, second trip this year) and she will eat and drink very well. (Drinking age is 16 for beer.) Mussels won't be in season till the fall, though.

Here is an old post by Antonius. Sadly the Cafe Amedee mentioned there is no more -- the owner passed away.

I told her if I was spending 6 months there I'd live on beer and chocolate, frites and waffles. ;-)

Leopold?? Who names their Belgian restaurant Leopold? That's like naming your German restaurant Adolf's.

As someone who read the entire first (other) thread, this is just comedic gold.

Oops. Didn't realize that was already hashed and rehashed... It was worth reading the thread just for the Pol Potsticker house, though.
