Bacon Lovers like Wiviott and Zaransky Sound Off on Rivet

At Baconfest, I asked several bacon enthusiasts (some celebrities, some just bacon-loving Joes n’ Josephines) one question: What does bacon mean to you?

The extravagant answers ranged from “essence of life” to “everything.”

Several of the more over-the-top responses were captured, and you can hear them on Rivet News Radio.

Just last week, Rivet won a Peter Lisagor Award for Exemplary Journalism in Chicago for The Best Online Start-Up [http://www.rivetnewsradio.com/blog/chicago-headline-club-recognizes-rivet-team-with-best-start-up-award-student-grant/#.U2j4rixOXPY].

Following the model of Pandora, the customizable online music streaming service, Rivet enables users to indicate what general topics and even what specific program segments he or she would like to hear. Rivet then automatically reduces the clutter and makes sure you get more of the programs you’ve indicated you like in areas including Arts & Entertainment, Business or Sports.

I hope to be working more with the Rivet Team, and when I do, I’ll post links to food-related segments I think you might find interesting. I'm also looking for stories, so if you have something you think might be noteworthy, you can post here or email me.

Very cool Mr. Hammond, thanks for including me in your riveting passion for bacon Baconfest piece. As an aside, the sharp eyed may notice our Barn & Company pre Baconfest snack, upper right hand corner of the image. That's right, those grease stained bags are from Jim's Original, pork chop sandwiches w/onions and sport peppers to start the engine running. (More like stop the heart)

Baconfest was, as always, a blast, kudos to all involved, especially the genial genius Seth Zurer.

And thank you, Gary, for providing such a spicy statement.

I am awed by how far Seth and his crew have been able to take Baconfest.
