Rave reviews perhaps (and I was a big fan), but the tininess of the place (and it's low profile) was a recipe for failure. Although I'm sure their rent was fairly low, their fixed costs made it difficult to realize a profit that would justify running it as those fixed costs inched upward.

It's not closed. It's the same owner and recipes. The owner told me they had to change the name for some other legalities. When she refreshed the awning, she relabeled the name. Same great food, seven tables, long waits on weekends place!

So, in other words, it's NOT closed--they changed the name. Might mean someone else took it over but to say closed, when it still has a dutch name with PANCAKES in the title is a bit misleading, no?

Hello LTHers! I am the GM at Famous Dutch Pancake Huis (formerly 'Pannenkoeken Cafe') and I can confirm that nothing has changed but the awning. Same great food and service; we just were hoping that the new name was more accessible to the average restaurant-goer. On behalf of the chef, I apologize for any confusion and implore you to please come see for yourself. You will be SHOCKED at how delicious our food is. But don't just take my word for it, come on in on any week day and drop the phrase "LTH" and I will personally serve you a COMPLIMENTARY, locally-roasted coffee (best local blend in the city IMHO).
