A friend of mine wants to have her birthday dinner at some place new. She wants to do Al Fresco and some sort of Farm-to-table...rustic (close or at the farm) or farm-like atmosphere . Is there any place in the Chicagoland that fits that criterior?

    I'm drawing blank here...help please

    Thanks!

If your friend is OK with traveling a little over an hour to Michigan City, IN there is a brand new restaurant called TMIP that is literally on a farm with as much of the food used coming directly from the farm as possible. While the meal is indoors, there is a tour of the farm prior to dinner and sometimes the chefs invite people to sit around a campfire with them after dinner. The food is extremely rustic, but really delicious and interesting as well. Definitely a unique, enjoyable, memorable dining experience.

Outstanding in the Field would fit that criteria, but the Chicago dinners are sold out. I believe tickets to a couple of Michigan dinners are still available. See this thread for more details and you can also go to their website for more details.

There is an upcoming Farm Dinner at Angelic Organics Farm that still has tickets available: http://www.learngrowconnect.org/farmdinner

Thanks everyone - I send her the link to TMIP - she seems to be very interested in this option the most. I might go myself later in the year.

Per the comments in existing thread on TMIP, you might want to call ahead. Permit issues.

Farmhouse in Evanston might fit the bill - http://farmhouseevanston.com/

Also Boltwood would fit the bill - http://boltwoodevanston.com/ - I have not been but the people behind it sound promising
