DMK Burger & Fish is a relatively new place on Noyes Street where Fraiche and numerous other restaurants have come and gone, a half block east of the Noyes station on the CTA Purple Line. It's from the DMK restaurant group (DMK Burger, Fish Bar, County Barbecue, MK, etc).

They feature burgers and shakes and a whole lot more, including various fish sandwiches and made-to-order salads. Check out the menu on their website. They also have a shake of the month and a sandwich of the month, which you can find out about on their Facebook page.

Seating is extremely limited, consisting of a communal high-top and a long counter with stools, and they do a pretty good lunch business. Seating a group our size is impractical. So here's the plan.

As long as the weather looks decent:

We'll start out at 12:30 in line at DMK Burger & Fish. We can get carry-out orders, which they are happy to fill. We could try ordering as a group, but that may be difficult, and we might be better off each ordering our food individually; we can decide on whatever makes sense when we're standing in line.

Once we have our food, we'll walk over to Tallmadge Park. From the restaurant, walk west on Noyes, and just past the tracks, turn right. The park is right behind the parking lot. I don't know if there's anywhere to sit in the park, but just in case there isn't, I'm bringing a small blanket to sit on. EDIT: Thanks Tom for posting below about the seating!

If it's raining or rain looks likely or the ground is so saturated that eating in the park seems problematic:

Our backup plan in the event of rain is to all have lunch at Rollin' To Go, just west of the tracks and next to Al's Deli. Rollin' To Go has plenty of seating so last-minute plans to eat there shouldn't be a problem. And the food is pretty good, with decent sandwiches and made-from-scratch potato chips. Again, this is just a backup plan in the event of rain; if the weather's nice, it's DMK.

All are welcome, so please come join us!

    I'll be there.

And yes, there is seating in the park. From our visit to Tallmadge Park after visiting Al's Deli, several years ago:

I will join you and have high hopes for the ELG's annual picnic, for which we have had good weather luck.

A last-minute change of plans means I will not be able to be there, rain or shine. So sorry to miss it!

Looks like I'm having dental work done Thursday afternoon, so my mouth won't be in any shape for mastication. See everyone next month!

Just a quick note - unlike many of our lunches, we don't need a committed headcount. So if you find that your mouth is feeling well enough by Friday, feel free to make a last-minute decision to join us!

In the past year I've missed at least one ELG lunch due to dental work, and another due to surgery...

Since our numbers are relatively small, if we see there is sufficient seating inside, we can grab it if we want. Otherwise we'll definitely take our food to the park.

    See you tomorrow!

I won't make it Friday, since my wisdom has significantly declined due to my dentist's tooth extraction ummm ...skills? But for the inevitable conversation about where to go in September, may I throw Patch (formerly Deta's) into the running?

Apologies -- now have a 1:00 conference call which throws a wrench into today's plans. Enjoy -- and per Tom's suggestion I haven't been to the new Patch since Deta's left so that sounds interesting.

Counter space for four, please? :)

Their current menu is here. They announce specials on their Facebook page here.

This week's weekly special is Fried Okra & Dill Pickles, Herb Ranch:

The special burger this month is The Buffalo Bill: cornflake-fried chicken thigh, buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato, celery:

Their special shake is Oreo mint but their FB says it's only available after 2 pm, I don't know if they can make it earlier:

    See you then!
