This SATURDAY 8/9/14 will be the 6th BBQ of the summer... The one we have all been waiting for.

    BALLS!

This will be a weird one, time to get creative! - Only ball shape food will be acceptable at this potluck. Balls an an element of a composed dish will be acceptable only if it is the majority of the dish. The only exception will be drinks, though if anyone has access to ball shaped ice or cups, that would be nice. Naturally ball shaped foods are acceptable.

Previously a couple people got lost trying to find the spot. It is just north of montrose beach, but that doesn't mean it's on montrose. It is actually just a little north of Lawrence Ave. Please look at the map and answers to other questions here:

I'm going to volunteer to bring my turkey fryer with a big pot of oil. I'm sure this party could benefit from some serious deep frying, and I don't want anyone to back out on a good idea due to the inconvenience. If anyone has extra oil, Spider (utensil), or deep fry baskets, let me know so i don't bring too much stuff.

I'm in for some kind of salad involving Boccaccini and melon balls and like 1-2 other ball-shaped items.

First, very sad to miss this one.

Second, while that's a great list Matt, you're obviously missing the very best balls around, Schweddy Balls:

    HI,

I will be in Missouri sampling heirloom recipes. Finish the day in Kansas City eating BBQ.

If I were not there, I'd likely be there because there is always an interesting collection of food.

    Regards,

Just realized that this is Saturday--I can't make it then- back to school stuff and MILs retirement dinner in NWI :(

Matt--I can still drop off my fry supplies for you.

Sorry to miss, especially since I'm completely open on Sunday.

I am completely booked on Sunday.

    Thanks for the split.

Dansch will be in town and should bring a few extra friends, in addition to the 9 people so far on facebook. We should have another decent turnout!

As for what I may make, I had a few things in mind. I'm not sure if I'll do some, or all...

    Buñuelos from Mekato's.
Deep fried Larb balls from Rainbow.
Fish balls in soup, inspired by a soup we ate while in Malaysia

Once again laikom hit it out of the park. Fish balls, cheese balls, bourbon balls, falafel balls, scotch olive balls, arancini balls, bibimbop balls, takoyaki balls, thanksgiving balls and blt balls were just some of the offerings before I had to leave. Good company, perfect weather and the chance to see Dansch all made for another great Montrose BBQ, thanks for this tradition laikom.

Agreed. Bonus was watching my happy little girl still do mid-air somersaults for a frisbee and the 2-legged company.
