Stopped by at an off hour on my way home and was really impressed. NYC style pizza, reheated to order with a beautiful crust.

The Roland (lemongrass sausage with thai basil) sounds like the kind of fusion idea that could go way wrong but it was one of the best things i've eaten lately. The sausage packed huge flavor and the whole thing really came together. Their more traditional stuff looked great as well but it will be hard to branch off the Roland. They're open late for the late night river north crowd.

Roland Liccioni from Les Nomades, is the chef here (or at least responsible for the menu).

No way! I wondered if the "Roland" pizza had anything to do with him because of the lemongrass(he uses is a lot), but figured it would be very unlikely. Love that guy.

Tried the meatball sandwich last night and it was outstanding. The gardinara was a bit spicy for my taste, but the meatballs, bread, sauce and fresh mozzarella were just great. Excited to try the roast pork soon.

I had the roast pork sandwich a while back when I happened to be in the area around lunchtime, and thought at the time it was one of the better sandwiches I had tried recently. Certainly inspired by Philly roast pork, but not "traditional" -- although could get a closer approximation if you asked them to increase the jus and the broccoli rabe and hold the giard and mayo (although you're out of luck on the seeded roll). If the price ($10ish) seems on the high end, note that it is a huge sandwich.

A place I was working ordered a couple pies and I was pretty impressed. Foldable crispy crust. Tasty toppings. They also ordered some sandwiches and there was one with roast beef, and some other things on top? Red peppers maybe? That doesn't help but I can't remember. I couldn't stop eating it, had like 3 pieces of the sandwich. Was really really good. I tried a slice when they first opened and wasn't as good as when I had it couple weeks ago. Gonna order some full pies next time I have a get together. I'll have to try that roast pork and meatball now too.

Still enjoying this place. Spicy Italian with giardinara hit the spot...quality meats and good bread. As mentioned above, price is high-ish but it's an expensive area and it's large.

Thanks for the rec; had my first visit today. Got a Roland slice and was blown away. So much flavor, the crust was great too. Then ordered a sausage slice and it was very good as well. Very impressed with the food here. Next visit, Ill try a sandwich. Wish they had a little more seating.
