Heading down to SummerDance @ the Lakefront tonight and am looking for a good Mediterranean place to do carry-out to bring along. Can anyone recommend somewhere between the near western suburbs and the South Loop?

    Much appreciated!

It's a small chain, but I find it incredibly fresh, full of interesting vegetables, and very delicious:

If you want the usual fare (falafel, hommos, shawarma) then Roti is fine, as is Naf Naf or I Dream of Falafel. Not all locations are open late ("late" in the Loop is after 5).

I really hate Roti's falafel. They're more like falafel-flavored croquettes than actual falafel. Super mushy inside and definitely nothing like the genuine article. In my experience, one could do better just about anywhere else.

Have never been to Roti, but have been to I Dream of Falafel in Oak Brook, which was was just 'eh'. Am looking for something authentic.... has anyone been to Couscous on Taylor Street lately? I know it was great a few years ago, but has gotten some negatives reviews lately.

They're definitely not falafel, but I don't find them offensive.

Couscous has been so inconsistent that we've given up on them. For something more or less on your way, I'd suggest Baba Pita on Lake Street:

The only thing consistent about Couscous is that you will leave smelling like burnt fried oil.

Perhaps too late--or too far out--but Salam on Lawrence and Kedzie is very good for carry out.

The Roti I used to got to when I was WAAAAAAAY in a pinch, stopped selling baba ghanouj. THAT'S offensive.

Depending how far south or north, there's those couple of places in the Oak Park Area, and right off of Ogden in both Lagrange and Berwyn, there's Falafelji. Falafelji has been pretty decent my past few visits.

    Falafeli - It's decent.
