The Kingston United Methodist Church monthly supper will be September 6. Seating times are 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. We will aim for 5:00 p.m. Razbry suggests picking your berries before supper. She recommends leaving for church by 4:30, because dinner is served promptly at 5:00 pm. If you are driving directly to the supper, arrive no later than 4:45 pm.

Held on the first Saturday of the month at the church, 121 W. First St., the suppers include dessert of pie. Donations are $9 for adults and $4 for children.

This month, the meat will be Swiss Steak, the most popular dinner, here is a picture from an earlier visit:

After supper, we will congregate at razbry's U-Pick Raspberry farm to enjoy the setting, perhaps pick some more raspberries and exchange desserts. Since people may be filled from their dinner and pie, please have desserts divided and packaged for the trip home.

If someone wants to attend for the church supper and berry picking, skipping dessert exchange, Or just come out to berry pick, consider yourself welcome.

    Count me in.

    It is a Saturday.

I think I am just eating sides at the dinner however.

Count me in! I can't wait. I assume I'll be making some form of pound or bundt cake since it travels well. More deets when I find out what the weather is.

Crap, same day as the 2nd Annual Carolina Pig Pickin' at my own church. I won first and second place for "Best Southern Side" last year. Actually, just claimed my prized this afternoon - lunch at Pricilla's Ultimate Soul Food.

Not sure if mrsm will attend. Perhaps she'd like to take my mom.

    That's a fine prize.

I will be making coconut pound cake unless it's too hot, then I'll make key lime pie balls: no bake. Sweet.

I will be missing the dinner, but will come by for the dessert exchange and post-dinner raspberry picking and socializing. I will also be bringing my mom with, since we live (relatively) close by.

    I will be making a lemon/raspberry torte :-)

That feeling you get when you realize you have pretty much none of the ingredients to hand for your offering.

    Hi,

A friend from Culinary Historians just called having seen this notice. She is coming with her boyfriend, though probably without dessert. I told her the fellowship rather than dessert was important, especially since pie comes with our meal.

As things change, it appears my Mom is coming.

If anythings changes any more, I will update.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I'm making honey and lavender cakes from the Ottolenghi cookbook. The batter tasted a little bland, so we'll see how they bake up. If I'm feeling ambitious, I'm dying to make the meringues from the same cookbook, but we'll see how the morning goes.

I made Marrian Burros famous plum torte except instead of plums there are figs! http://www.nytimes.com/1989/09/13/garde ... torte.html.

That said, the local boy told me about it this week here.

And I read all of the comments about it here.

I'm lazy and it's getting late so I'm not labeling my bags, but the key lime balls contain coconut, for those who are allergic.
