Suggestions please for a nice restaurant whose primary purpose is not to please a sports-watching public, but nonetheless will have the World Series on, ideally with sound?

    Smoky Bones (multiple locations)

Now I know your gonna say this is a sports bar, which it might be to a degree, this does meet your "with sound" qualification, as each eating area has a volume control, and every seat in the house a view of a screen, somewhere.

But don't go there expecting any sort of barbecue. I disdain the place for that, usually sticking to sides. But a great place to take in a game none the less. (if you must, best bet is pulled pork sandwich, but I warned you :) )

Fridays is another option. Again, stick with the sides (potato skins and quesadillas)

Buffalo Wild Wing is also a good choice. Mine has 21 different beers on tap, and plenty of TV's

Sorry to stick with Chain Stores, but without a location of where you are, its difficult to isolate the neighborhood pub for good pub food

I watched Game 1 at Moher and it was very nice. Not as many young single women as I might have hoped but oh well:) The 3 42" LCD TVs were nice and bright and the sound was up.

I had Irish Spring rolls filled with a mixture of corned beef, cabbage and "mozzarella" Type Product. They were yummy in a bar food kind of way but the cheese was a shock texturally and 8 bucks for two egg rolls was hard to swallow. I'm still thinking about what Phoenix or LSC would put into $4 egg rolls, probably whatever I wanted, lobster or crab!

Their other food is good as well, if you call ahead and reserve one of the two snugs you will get semi private dining with your own flat screen tv. I'll probably stay in Evanston tonight just because I'm tired from the weekend.

What do you expect? With all the guys' attention on the tube, women who aren't interest in sports either have girls' night out somewhere sports-free or stay home and wash their hair.

And women who are interested in sports can find more comfortable spots to watch than a smoky bar.

Yeah I wasn't really expecting but there is usually a good contingent there, guess I just need to get invited to the right people's houses :)

I went to Schaller's Pump Sat. night. It's great since you can mix up the family rec-room pub atmosphere for several innings and then go into the smoky, loud, crazy, fun bar area... 37th and Halsted
