At long last the place I love to hate appears to be trying to re imagine itself.

At Piazza Bella Trattoria, 2116 W. Roscoe St., the patio furniture has been taken in, the windows are papered over, there is no sign indicating a remake remodel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMBeqNfYEYY w/ Eno!).

I guess they couldn't take the competition from the badly reviewed chino Latino fusion' next door (http://www.chicagoreader.com/Bleader/ar ... no-kitchen)

As I said, there is no such indication at the brick and mortar site. Nor is there a permit posted.

Okay, got that, but when you talk about it being papered over and not being able to take the competition it's sounds like a lot more than just a two week re-model.

Exactly. It's pretty easy to put up a hopeful message on your website. Takes a bit more effort to hire a contractor, pull a permit and do an actual remodel. Granted, I don't really know how permanent the closing is. I'm simply going off of what I've observed as dwindling customer numbers as I walk by every day or two. I'm probably guilty of the sin of speculation, in which case the mods are welcome to take down my posts.

When Dave and Megan Miller sold their ownership in the beloved Logan Square Bang Bang Pie Shop in April to partner Michael Ciapciak, most people expected their new endeavor would be just another celebrated pie shop.

But when Baker Miller Bakery & Millhouse opens Sept. 22 on North Western Avenue about a block south of the Western Brown Line station, Dave, 29, and Megan, 26, will launch the next phase of their careers.

Longtime Old Town Italian restaurant Dinotto Ristorante (215 W. North Ave.) will close their doors September 21st after 25 years due to losing their lease. In October the people behind Dinotto will be opening a smaller restaurant around the corner focusing on Neopolitan style pizzas in the former Flight 1551 space (1551 N. Wells). The new restaurant will be named Da'Dino Pizza e Vino.

After 4 short years Jaffa Bakery at the corner of Devon and McCormick in Lincolnwood is finally showing signs of opening. The interior seems to be close to complete from what I saw peering into the two windows that had the paper removed and they hung the signage this week. The first mention of Jaffa was back in 2010: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=29902&start=90&sp=349539

Patisserie Coralie is scheduled to open in a few weeks at Davis and Chicago in Evanston.

Further north, Robert LaPata (formerly of La Petite Amelia and Omaggio) plans to open Ten Mile House at 1700 Central St. Evanston. The name is a reference to the first tavern in Evanston, which was ten miles north of the middle of the City of Chicago. Being on Central, it's probably more like eleven miles north, but whatever. Wood-oven pizza, craft beers, smoked meats, etc. are promised.

This place will be kitty-corner from Dyche Stadium and a block away from Welsh-Ryan Arena. They should make a fortune if it's even half-way decent, as it's the only non-Mustard's Last Stand resto east of Green Bay Road on Central.

A new place will be opening up at the corner of 83rd & St. Charles in Elmhurst where Kitchen Eatery used to be. I believe it's called Krave.

Just down the street in Villa Park, the old RC's Grille is now Baba Karam (117 W St Charles Rd).

Off the record intel has told me that it's supposed to be some sort of greek restaurant. Same intel has also told me that there's some movement on the old Rosebud spot across the street.
