hi all, i'm proposing the next dessert exchange be october 5th; i picked the first sunday of the month in the faint hope that it'll still be warm enough to sit out on the back deck... i know the odds are against it. the usual drill applies, i'll make dinner- vegetarian if required. 10 people can probably squeeze in my place. it would be great to see some new faces in addition to the familiar ones. there were some really good desserts at the LTH picnic today and not all were made by people who attend the dessert exchanges (i'm just sayin'.....) . i'm in logan square- very easy parking, or a 15 minute walk from the blue line at kedzie (the california stop is closed) or 2 blocks south of the fullerton bus line. bakers with all levels of experience are welcome. i forgot to add that i have 2 cats.

I think can make it. That's the Sunday before my daughter's wedding, so if thinks get hinky, I'll let you know. If we get to the point that there's a wait list, I'll back out so someone more definitive can have the spot. I'm hoping you'll have a salad and I'll take the dessert home for the family. Got to make sure the dress still fits! :-)

    Will probably make something pumpkin.

If I can get away with it I'd like to bring my wife to this (yet another Joan) with just one dessert. She's the baker. I'm the klutz. I promise to bring my fresh face.

    Hi,

I just realized I am double booked: I am hosting a program about a March of Bataan survivor at 2 pm in Highland Park. I don't believe I can leave any earlier than 4:00 pm, if then.

I'm sorry, I guess I need to excuse myself. Sorry!

Put me down! I'm making Sophia Squares. If that doesn't work, coconut pound cake.

this is weird. i just wrote a post, and thought i'd submitted it. but it's missing. and pie lady's post popped up at the same time....
so i'll post again: first, i'm sorry to hear about toria's broken ankle. that can't be easy- i hope you aren't in too much pain.
secondly: every response to the date of october 5th (except pielady's, which i didn't see until just this minute), was a tentative one (i totally understand why this happens). so i'm thinking maybe we should reschedule for another day. how would you all feel about switching to october 19th? and, of course, anyone else who would like to come but can't make it on the 5th. thanks, joan

EDITED TO ADD; back to plan one. we have a dessert quorum for october 5, so october 5th it will remain.

I can make the 5th. Don't think I will be able to make the 19th by 4 as I will be doing a walk that afternoon starting at 2pm.

Finally, after watching the dessert exchanges come and go and being way too busy, I can attend one! Please put me down for an apple dessert of some sort. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

    Hi,

I am 90% certain your new date will work for me. I will have to think about which dessert to make.

If Ingrid comes, we can see her newly relaxed self as the wedding will be finally over.

welcome katherine- so glad you can join us. are you responding to the october 5th date? or to my attempt to change the date to the 19th? because if you and SueF and Pielady can come on the 5th, then LET'S LEAVE IT ON THE 5th. though i'd appreciate it if the 'maybes' would confirm when they feel confident one way or the other, just so i can plan dinner. thanks, joan

toria- i can almost guarantee a parking space within 50 yards of my house. if one isn't available, you can always have my parking space behind my building, but it's horribly small and took me 2 weeks and a driving lesson from a former truck driver, before i felt i could park without hitting my neighbor's cars....

no, i'm going to definitely commit. you, sueF and pielady all responded affirmatively to the 10/5 date AFTER i had suggested switching it. so there are enough people for a dessert quorum! we are full speed ahead for october 5th. i'll PM directions/address later this week. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody and eating delicious desserts. jj

I am in. Right now, I have a bunch of ideas but it depends largely on the farmer's market, maybe peaches, perhaps, apples, or maybe something else.
