I've recently discovered this web-based cookbook indexing site and am wondering if anyone else has been using it? For a relatively nominal ($25/year) fee, I can access an index to recipes in all of my cookbooks, as well as any cooking magazines or blogs. It doesn't publish the recipes, but is searchable by ingredient/key word so seems like it'll come in handy for scanning my books. I already have a pretty extensive listing of my recipes in Evernote, but am happy to have found this as an alternative resource.

Looks intriguing--although I've never heard of it. What is interesting is that they have a reasonably wide net in terms of books out there. What I like somewhat less is that many of the books I personally would like an index for are "available" only in the sense that you can vote for them to be added or you can volunteer to index them yourself. The list of books actually indexed is so far, anyway, limited to mainstream titles. I guess if it takes off, it would be worth checking back into. I'll be curious to see if anyone here has experience of the site. It's a terrific idea; I've tried doing it by hand but it's simply undoable unless you have nothing else to do all day (or only own a tiny handful of books).

I signed up for it about a year and a half ago I think, but don't really use it--I don't recall paying anything for it. It is a good idea if you're a recipe person--I'm not though--I typically use my cookbooks a) for reading up on a cuisine and/or b) browsing thru aimlessly for ideas. Neither of these is served by eatyourbooks. I did use it once to figure out what issue of which cooking magazine a particular recipe was in that I wanted to share with someone but couldnt quite recall. Worth checking out.

I went ahead and signed up; it turns out that 113 of my 149 books are indexed (most of the remainder were published outside the US or very old/obscure). I'll check back in here in a while to report on how useful I'm finding the site.
