A few weeks ago, I cracked one of my molars on a piece of (boneless!!!) chicken boti at Khan's BBQ.

After it had been determined that I wouldn't lose the tooth, I went for a root canal, followed by the fitting of a temporary crown.

Yesterday, I was finally kitted out with a permanent gold crown.

Here are a couple snaps of my new crown moments before it was put in:

If you look closely, you will see that the leading edge of the crown has been engraved with a capital "B" which has been bisected vertically by a dash.

That is the symbol of the baht, the official currency of Thailand.

    You mean the chicken?

After engraving the crown my dentist said, "That is the most fun that I've had all day. No, wait, all week. Hell, all year!!"

He then proceeded to parade it around the office, showing it off to his colleagues, assistants, and staff members.

When he finally calmed down he retrieved his special Canon macro lens camera and took pictures. ;)

Wow! Some chicken boti - boneless, but not toothless!

And to think I paid extra to have all of my gold crowns covered with realistic looking enamel!

My dentist has taken so many pictures of my teeth to show to his study groups that I'm sure my mouth is now famous. (Don't worry -- I don't have copies.) I take comfort in knowing that, should anything ever happen to me, any dentist in Chicagoland will be able to identify my corpse as one of Paul Jabobs' patients.

FWIW, cracking teeth are apparently an increasingly common problem among Baby Boomers. Perhaps it's now reaching Gen X, too.

You want kidney stones?? I have kidney stones. I'm having them made into jewelry, since they've cost me a fortune over the years. Unfortunately, my doctor refused to let me have the impacted 8mm beauty I had removed last month.

Does this mean we can expect a chopped and screwed version of www.silapaahaan.com at some point in the future?
