Evanston Lunch Group™ - Thu 11/20 12:30pm boltwood

boltwood (note that they use a lower case b) has gotten a lot of noise on LTH since opening earlier this year. While some of the Evanston Lunch Group regulars might take issue with the title of the boltwood thread (Evanston was a hot restaurant destination well before boltwood opened ... Farmhouse, Found Social Kitchen, even going back to Trio), boltwood is certainly a welcome addition to the Evanston dining scene.

Or is it?

Since boltwood has recently opened for lunch, the Evanston Lunch Group™ will make up its own collective mind on that topic Thursday November 20th (a week before Thanksgiving) at the usual time of 12:30 pm. All are welcome - especially interested folks who may not have joined us before.

Unfortunately, my +1 cannot take a gentle hint, as she is bailing. I will still be there though, and am looking forward to it!

They don't take reservations for lunch, but they promised to put a "reserved" sign on one end of the communal table. I'm not sure how different that is from a reservation, but when joining us, look for the "reserved" sign.

I appreciate your posting the detailed review in the other thread and the link to it here. I wish the Evanston and North Shore lunch group members would comment more often on the places they go. Many group lunch threads seem to end with "I'm in" and "See you there" posts. If I can't make the lunch, I'd like to know what other people's impressions were to help me decide whether to try to go to a place another time.

Like Evie, I thought a lot of the food at our Boltwood lunch was bland, and nothing was especially memorable. I've been to Boltwood for dinner, too. I would be happy to go back to Boltwood for dinner, when I thought it was quite good and creative (not necessarily outstanding or amazing, but quite good). I would not go back for lunch.
