Smylie Brothers Brewing Company is, if I am keeping count correctly, Evanston's third brewery. It also serves a full menu that includes barbecue, wood-fired pizzas, and sandwiches. Take a break from bad office-party food and join the Evanston Lunch Group for a convivial holiday-time lunch of barbecue and beer (and anything else on the menu we feel like trying).

I'll be there, since it's only about three blocks from the house. The beers there are very good, and I can stumble home.

And yes, it's Evanston's third brewery. In order:

    1. Temperance
    2. Peckish Pig
    3. Smylie Bros
    4. Sketchbook

That is, unless you include Boilover Brewery, brewing in Evanston since 1994. It's in my basement.

Will try to make it, but may not know until that morning if I will actually be there--if that's OK....

This sounds possible. The key is remembering to get up and out of the domicile that morning.
Show me as a +1, thank you.

Sorry to report that I will have to be at a funeral on Thursday. We currently have a reservation under my name for 10 people at 12:30 at Smylie Brothers. I guess we will be only 9, but I will leave the reservation stand. I will PM all signed up with details.

Unfortunately, I am not much for beer at lunch - still had work to do today.

However, the food and company were excellent. We had pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches and 2 pizzas: truffle mushroom - dried mushrooms, spinach and cheese topped with truffle oil and the smokehouse pizza - smoked brisket with jalapenos and cheese.

I had a last minute doctors appointment, so I had to duck out before desert - but they all sounded wonderful and all had alcohol.

The space is very large, but since they kept the music to a reasonable level, we were able to converse - something that is now a deal breaker for me at a restaurant.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
