Pizza for delivery into Lincoln Square

So I moved from Lake View to Lincoln Square several months ago and I'm having a problem. I can't convince Pizano's or Lou Malnati's to deliver to me anymore (although I somehow convinced Pizano's to deliver a few pizzas to me before they figured out how far away I now live).

Does anyone know of pizza places that will deliver to Lincoln Square area (generally, Lawrence/Lincoln/Western). I love Pizano's and Malnati's pizzas. I've ordered from Ranalli's, and I think it's ok, but nothing special. Pete's -- also ok, not great. And as close as I live to Little Caesars and Pizza Hut, I'm not willing to throw away all hope just yet. I'm looking for good deep dish, but good thin crust can come in handy too. HELP! Thanks,

You may be able to coerce Pequod's into delivering there. I know they go west to Kedzie, I'm just not sure how far north.

My boyfriend lives near you, and he has a similar problem with pizza delivery. We often order from Chicago Pizza on Montrose. They have good deep dish and thin crust.

I'll definitely check this one out -- I like Pequod's a lot.

I've experienced similar pizza frustration the last 7 years or so. Our primary pizza delivery places are Calo and Bubamara. Calo's pizza is pretty standard and Bubamara attempts to be a little different, offering a wide variety of toppings (incl. leeks, sweet corn, peaches, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, crab meat and many more) . When we're craving deep dish, though, we end up cutting our losses and picking up at Gino's East on Lincoln & Diversey or the Lincolnwood Lou Malnati's.

These detriments are minor compared to the vast chowish upside of the neighborhood, though, especially if you include the Lawrence/Kedzie area in your definiton of it.

I live on the western edge of Lincoln Square, and if I'm ordering pizza, I usually go with Bubamara (prosciutto/goat cheese/green olive pizza, divine!) But I also live right near the Penguin, which has been mentioned several times on this board, an Argentinean pizza and gelato place. They do a pretty good thin crust (but not superthin) and do deliver -- but they have the best pizza deal in the 'hood: a 14" pizza and two sodas for $6.

My go-to pizza delivery place in Lincoln Square is Pete's Pizza on Western. They're affordable, compared to say Chicago's, and delivery never takes very long. Besides pizza you can get the usual Italian fare delivered: sandwiches, pasta, etc. Their sausage and peppers is great, too.

The would also recommend Bubamara. They have a pretty good spicy sauce they use upon request and they have a wide variety of toppings.

Pete's is OK, but I don't love it as much as some do. For thin crust, I usually order from D'Agostino's at Southport and Addison (773-477-1821). I know they deliver to the area. Definitely give it a try if you like a slightly sweeter sauce.

Another place in the area is Noli's near Kedzie and Lawrence (773-588-0400). They make a pretty good NY Style thin crust. They also make a pretty good byrek (eastern European pastrey filled with either meat, cheese, potato, or spinach I believe). I live closer to California, but I presume they deliver to Lincoln square.

If you like it thin and crispy Delisi's delivers to Lincoln Sq.

I agree. I went there last night for a pick up. I ordered it with sausage and mushrooms. The sausage was tasty as well as the mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly and the pizza was not gooped with garlicy sauce. Very fresh. The pizza was ready in 20 minutes for and it was 11 bucks. You really can't beat that.

Have you tried Art of Pizza? They might or might not deliver that far, I don't know.

Isn't there a Giordano's on Lawrence between Ashland and Western somewhere? Or is it gone?

Delisi's is fairly close to Malnati's style. Not great, but it'd do when you gotta have exactly that.

The Giordano's that you are referring to is now Stefano's, right next to Uno Di Martino. Haven't been to either yet.

I have been there and the pizza is pretty bland and undercooked. It's also pretty smoky and a little shady.

I appreciate all of the recommendations. I like Art of Pizza but I must admit that I haven't found out if they deliver to Lincoln Square. I am curious to try the Penguin (love their gelato, especially the sabayon) and Bubamara. I've seen Stefano's but I've never ordered from them and never heard any good or bad. But I guess I have a few thin crust places to try and I'm very curious about Delisi's.

Art of Pizza's northern delivery limit is Foster, so as long as you're south of there you're covered. Keep in mind, also, that the Penguin will deliver gelato too.

I saw a sign at Damen and Montrose saying "Giordano's Coming Soon. " Maybe this will help your situation. Pete's is good for thin in my opinion.

That would be a nice addition to the area. I must say that I was shocked to not find a Gino's, Pizano's, Malnati's or Giordano's within delivery range when I moved to Lincoln Square-- not that I'm not willing to try new places and I now I have a whole list of places to test.

And since I'm originally from just outside Manhattan and don't get back to NY that often, I always need to quench my taste for the foldable NY-style slice.

There used to be a Giordano's at 21?? W Lawrence. Some time in the past year of so it turned into Chef Stephani's (sp?) Home of the Stuffed Pizza.

Desperately wanting a Malnati's/Pizano's-style deep dish pizza, I decided to give Delisi's a try -- I had never even heard of it before. I ordered a deep dish pizza with sausage and onions and it was very good. It was not as buttery or as crisp as I usually like, but it was very close. I put a slice in the toaster oven to make it a little crispier and that made it even better. With respect to Giordano's, I just find that the quality is uneven, depending on which one you try. There is one near my office in Rosemont that is consistently good, but I have been to others where the quality is severely lacking.

The only thing I'm now wondering about with Delisi's is whether they also have a butter crust available (like Malnati's and Pizano's) which I think gives the pizza just a little more flavor and texture -- interestingly, almost a slight beer flavor, if that makes any sense.

My girlfriend lives in Lincoln Square and we've ordered for home delivery several times (most recently for Game #1 of the WS) and have never been disappointed.

Another option for Lincoln sq. is just a bit west on Montrose, Angelo's Pizza / Mi Ranchero. Angelo's puts out a surprisingly good slice of thin crust sausage for the very decent price of about $1.39. On display in the slice case are fairly large and good looking deep fried - bbq sauce dipped chicken wings. Angelo's is difinetly on my list for a carry out pie.

Where are they locating? I know a Chicago's Pizza was on Montrose just east of Damen; is Giordano's replacing it, or is the neighborhood gaining a second pizza outlet?

It's in a little strip mall on the northwest corner of Montrose and Damen, formerly occupied by a minimart.

I finally tried Penguin's pizza tonight and I was disappointed. I absolutely love their gelato (and they make pretty good empanadas too) and was expecting at least a good thin crust pizza, but didn't find it. The crust was super thin -- considerably thinner than Barnaby's for example, and otherwise nondescript. I ordered it with pepperoni and onions. The pepperoni was bland and the onions slightly sauteed and a little too oily. The sauce was pretty bland and the cheese was nothing special either.

But don't get me wrong -- I'll still be running back there for the sabayon gelato which is amazing.

Pizza Bubamara was one of my fav's when i lived up in that area... no deep dish/stuffed ... its very near you, too... its ran by an eastern european guy... he makes EVERYTHING from scratch... definately worth trying. (though, admitedly, the last time I ordered pizza from there i wasn't as impressed as i first was).

another fav of mine was actually rossati's, which is in a strip mall on broadway just north of lawrence... high on the list for my fav stuffed/deep dish in town even.. not too far from you, they might deliver to you... (btw, i've had rosatti's pizza from other locations --the one on grand ave--and it was just nowhere near as good)..

Sampling more pizza in the Lincoln Square vicinity, tonight I tried Golden Crust (located on Kedzie). Big mistake. They offer thin, thick and stuffed. A friend of mine and I opted for the thick. The crust was really just thick bread all around and not even cooked well -- there were several raw dough spots throughout the pizza. No part of the crust was crispy. As for the toppings, we ordered sausage and onion -- very little onion, bland sausage and a cheese/sauce mixture that just didn't make things any better.

My friend also ordered a side of wings which were also awful. Lots of oil dripped to the bottom of the delivery container, and although you could notice some sauce on the wings, they were tasteless -- not just lacking spice, but lacking flavor.

On another note, I tried Delisi's again and it was not as good as the first time I had it -- still good, just nothing great. Sadly, I live within this 12-block area where Malnati's does not serve. Same with Pizano's. Maybe I'll try to get Pequod's to head my way.

Not suggesting you attempt this, but I heard tell of a fellow who was, also, just out of Malnati's delivery area who, while waiting at the host stand for his pizza pick-up, tipped $10 for his phone number to be inputted into their system. Seems that long as your home number is in the system they will deliver.

This, of course, will not work if you are 25-miles out of the area, but for a few blocks over an arbitrary line...........

We rarely order pizza for delivery but when we do I'm a fan of Malnati's thin crust pizza. Martino's, in our area, is a decent choice as well, but we once got a thick crust, or was it stuffed, by mistake. Not to put too fine a point on it, but ~ugggg~, soggy crust and enough cheese to make even this ex Wisconsinite cringe.

A $10 tip doesn't sound so bad now. Of course, on a couple of occasions Pizano's delivered to me, and on a couple, they told me I'm outside of their delivery zone. But maybe a willingness to tip a bit more might ensure delivery by Malnati's or Pizano's. Not sure about Pequod's, especially with their current situation -- last time I had Pequod's I ate in.

The other approach is the approach Elaine took on Seinfeld -- wait outside of a building in the delivery zone and pretend to live there!
