I am not too fond of Suzettes crepes and I think that La France is better. Having said that I do like the warm and cozy feeling of Suzettes and some of the non crepe items are okay. The downside of La France which is also kind of an upside is that they make everything on the spot from scratch and it can take painfully long to be served there.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my wife and I tried to stop by for lunch today since we're back in the area, and there was a sign in the window advising that they are closed until Wed, 8/7, for repainting. We would see tables and chairs being pulled out as we pulled up.

My last visit to La France was about a year ago. I went there for my last lunch prior to moving to Hawaii, and it was a great choice. Disappointed my return visit has to be postponed a bit, but I'll be sure to be there in a week.

we arrived at the restaurant 30 mins prior to your post but appreciate the heads up attempt. (insert thumbs up icon). We ended up at Holy Mackerel in the Westin by Yorktown mall, I wrote up a review in that thread.

Long may the La France flag wave. This deconstructed Croque Madame with perfectly poached eggs, thyme, (intentionally) lightly chilled artichoke, spinach, and tomato, and textbook sauces was one of the Best Things I've Eaten Lately, a symphony of different butter-saturated textures, flavors, spicing, and temperatures. The Gruyere is particularly notable, mild and nutty.

The salmon and asparagus crepe and the nutella-banana dessert crepe with vanilla ice cream were also smile-inspiring.

Ventilation is not great, and if they painted recently, it doesn't show. I recommend sitting by the front window under the fan if you want the best view of the kitchen and dining experience. Service was stellar, and they were able to handle a party of 7 that came in just after us and still get our dessert crepe out. This place is worth a trip and wait.

We went to La France a few weeks ago for brunch, just getting around to posting about it now.

Ben is no longer there, apparently he sold the place several months back. We each tried a sweet crepe, and while tasty, they were cooked very unevenly. Perhaps we hit them on an off day? I am hoping that is the case, and not because of the new talent in the kitchen.

This probably explains La France being on Groupon.

Yes, I can confirm that Ben is gone, the place sold, tho I have not been there to try the new owner's offerings, despite being in the area frequently. Guess I must TOFTT next time. Ben had continually increased his prices to the point that I only continued because of him, and his delicious cooking, so I have assumed pricing remains the same and without Ben...

But I will go and share my experiences.

I went to La France about a month ago. My dining companion was a bit freaked because she thought it looked dirty; I didn't notice. Crepes were good, but we couldn't order anything with beef as they were out of beef. Interesting as it was a Wednesday, they're closed on Mondays, so only the second day of the week. We shall see.
