A few of us are heading down to Nashville this upcoming Friday for the weekend and some Blackhawks hockey in the south.

I saw the Hawks play the Predators in Nashville around 2001. What route are you taking? Probably the I-65 route which I should have done (through Indianapolis and Louisville), but never did because I always had to stop in Urbana for pizza at Timpone's Restaurant when I would go to Nashville. One of the most unique tasting super thin crust pizzas ever and has been in my top 3 since I first had it in 1990. My brother's band would insist on stopping there while driving around the country for gigs, even with 3 vegans in the band (out of 7). Man do I miss it.
So, if you are taking a different route through Illinois down I-57 for any reason, stop there for pizza. They also happen to be a fancy Italian restaurant, but we always ate pizza in the bar. On the menu it's called Campustown Pizza.

If you follow the route I've taken to Knoxville, you will go through Paducah. You could try the Hot Tamales- a Delta special covered in depth by PIGMON at Doe's Eat Place in Paducah. Iconic. Here is a thread with info from raymond:

Thread bump--pretty last minute since we're leaving tomorrow. Heading down for a very quick trip--leaving really early and likely driving pretty much straight through. So we'll have tomorrow afternoon and evening, breakfast Tuesday (bowl game in the afternoon), dinner Tues. then breakfast and the drive home on Wed. Traveling with the boys--both in HS now but even pickier eaters than when they were younger, if that's possible. I've read all the threads and, some of the breakfast places like Loveless Cafe and Nashville Biscuit House look like good recs but we need some dinner spots that offer kid-friendly options with decent food for adults. You have to include Arnold's. And it's so much food it might take you through dinner!

I'm not sure if the kids would like it, but you should try to go to the Nashville outpost of Husk, if you can get in.

SO and I ate at Husk in Charleston last week and enjoyed it (still like FIG better btw) but that is definitely not a place for our kids unfortunately.
