I am again working in the Schaumburg area, so trying to reacclimate myself with the local food choices.
I've been to Westwood Tavern a couple times now. I hardly would call it a tavern (a picture of the numerous northwoods Wis taverns come to my mind), Westwood is a burb corporate "tavern".
I've tried two items for lunch so far.
A short rib grilled cheese sandwich - footlong brioche, roasted wild mushrooms, smoked gouda, sharp cheddar & fontina cheese ∙ tomato basil dip. While the bread may be described as brioche, it simply tasted like toast to me, a huge piece of toast (picture double wide). I did not find anything sharp about the cheese which is unfortunate as the short rib was delicious (of course could have used more of it), had the cheese been sharp, this would be a great sandwich.
Grilled mahi fish tacos - fresh mahi rubbed with fresh herbs & grilled, served with salsa, small scoop of guacamole, black beans, rice, chopped tomato/onion/cilantro. While the fish was overcooked to a firm, these tacos were very enjoyable.
