Please post all applicable, basic news on this thread.

If you have something substantive to post about a place, please start a new thread (or search for an exising one and post there), as important details will almost certainly get lost and forgotten in this thread.

    Important Reminder:

    LTH,

Please, do not post about a closing without making absolutely certain that your information is correct and accurate in every way.

Please, do not post rumors of closings without linking to a credible, 3rd-party source that substantiates your report. (i.e. "Eater.com reports . . ." is ok)

It's far more important to be accurate than early with your information. The best course of action may be to make a phone call to the establishment before posting anything. But whatever you do, make sure you are 100% correct before posting about a closing on this thread or any other in these forums.

    Thanks again,

Just found out Azzurra in Wicker Park closed up shop 12/31/2014. Never got a chance to go there since we live so close to Anteprima (which is one of my favoritest restaurants in Chicago) but sad to see what appeared to be a great addition to the neighborhood go:

They posted an announcement on their Facebook page today.

Kuma's was on the "opening soon" sign in Woodfield for ages and the restaurant owners vehemently denied that they were at all involved with that sign. I was there in August and Kuma's was no longer listed as a future business. I wonder what the deal with this is.

I don't know if it's a return of the "old-school" version or the bought--out-and-fancied-up, overpriced version. Or if it's neither and someone is just appropriating the name.

Barcello's Pizza and Pasta ("Coming Soon")
    3576 N. Milwaukee Ave

Turns out to be a revival of the old-school Barcello's formerly in Bucktown before the folks who bought it out tried to take it up-market. So it's back to basics with the original owners at the helm of this new-but-old iteration. And it is now open, though with no explanation as to why it says "viagra generic canada" on their website fairly prominently right beneath their name...

Cô Cô Vietnamese Sandwiches has opened at 1613 W. Lawrence Ave. They serve banh mi, pho, and some other items (not sure what, haven't seen the menu firsthand).

My husband brought home three banh mi - a chicken, a pork, a beef - and some shrimp spring rolls from there yesterday. The sandwiches were very good. I didn't like the bread as much as Nhu Lan's, but the fillings were all very tasty. The pork was my favorite; it was moist, well-seasoned, and tasted like it might even have some grill char to it. The spring rolls were fresh. Overall, I like it slightly less than Nhu Lan but loads more than Ba Le. It'll probably become a regular stop in my rotation, seeing as I live closer to Cô Cô than Nhu Lan.

The owners told my husband they've been open since Friday but haven't had a lot of business. They were afraid it was because their phones aren't working yet, but I'm guessing the weather and possibly a lack of advertising are the main factors.

    Schaumburg is not very metal.

Neither is Lincoln Park... but I think Kuma's can be forgiven in that case because they did manage to get a "666" address that they can prominently display in their window.
