So far I've only seen them at Whole Foods, and looking for a less expensive option. Checked Peoria Packing and sadly they had no idea what I was talking about.

    Hi,

    Welcome to LTHforum!

I did a quick search for hanger steaks, while there is not a lot of information, I believe some of it will be useful: search of keywords hanger steak on Cooking and Shopping.

    Regards,

I picked up some beautiful hangar steaks at the Lawrence/Ravenswood Mariano's.

Both the Standard Market locations in Naperville and Westmont carry hanger steaks; I've not been to the Lincoln Park location.

    FYI,

Isn't the Lincoln Park location just a restaurant and not a market?

    From Wikipedia . . .

"Anatomically, the hanger steak is said to "hang" from the diaphragm of the steer."

Sorry, for the pedantry but I thought it might matter going forward.

Find a friend with a membership at Restaurant Depot and split a cryovac pack from there. Won't find a better deal on hanging tenders in Chicago.
