Has anyone tried or been to GUS GUS in Skokie. This is a small restaurant in a strip mall across the street from Hungarian Kosher Foods on Oakton in Skokie. This is similar to Pita Inn but some more interesting choices like Lahmajun which is like Persian pizza wih meat on top. Also they have stuffed grape leaves both vegetarian and meat (which needs to be ordered in advance).

There lunch special is reasonable and in my opinion a little better quality than pita inn $5.99.

I ate there once several months ago. Not impressed the least bit and didn't deem it post-worthy.

The top review is a guy named Jamal with a brother named Bassam.

His avatar? The picture of Ashraf Barhom, a Christian Israeli Arab who portrays Jamal Al-Fayeed on Tyrant.

    Jamal's brother's name? Bassam Al-Fayeed.

FWIW, the Pita Inn store has lahmajun that I like. They're not hot, and they sometimes have sold out of them when I've occasionally stopped in. They're a bit spicy and yummy.

Far superior, freshly-made lahmacun can be had nearby at Larsa's and Taza Bakery, or a bit farther away, Turkish Cuisine on Clark.

Been here just once, and wasnt overly impressed - didnt deem it post-worthy either.

You can get lahamacun at "Oakton Bakery" as well - on Oakton, next to the Domino's Pizza store. They have some fresh cooked food (which was pretty decent, tho I havent tried it for a while now), and a grocery store - you can buy lahamacun there. What they do really well, tho, is Assyrian Bread - they are a bakery, and they make the Assyrian Bread that is sold in many stores around the city.
