The next LTH Forum's Monthly (well almost) Dessert Exchange will be our 50th. Does this make it the Golden Exchange? It also happens to fall one week after the Oscars, the award show of the golden statue. I suggest a golden theme of sorts - make a dessert that you find "golden." Merriam Webster's defines golden as:

    Full Definition of GOLDEN

1: consisting of, relating to, or containing gold
2a : being or having the color gold or the color of gold
    b : blond 1
    3: lustrous, shining
4: of a high degree of excellence : superb
    5: prosperous, flourishing <golden days>
6a : radiantly youthful and vigorous
b : having talents that promise great success —often used with boy
    c : highly favored : popular
    7: favorable, advantageous <a golden opportunity>
8: of, relating to, or being a 50th anniversary or its celebration
    9: mellow, resonant <a smooth golden tenor>

So make something gold in color, something that you highly favor, something mellow or something lustrous and shining.

The celebration will take place at my home in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. I am directly across the street from the Oakbrook Shopping Center near the intersection of Rt. 83 and 22nd street, and just down the street from Ditka's. Parking is available in my driveway, in the neighbors' on either side of me.

I will make a light supper, either all vegetarian or have vegetarian options, and provide beverages. Bring one dessert, no doubling required. All levels of dessert experience are welcome, because often participants bring desserts made for the first time. We are the best audience for trying out something new. If it failed in your opinion, bring it anyway because we can learn from your experience and maybe it is not as bad as you think.

Bring containers to take your share home. It is a good idea to bring a couple, on for those needing refrigeration and one for those than don't.

    I can comfortably seat 10.

    Hi,

I plan to attend. I will make something complimentary to your theme.

    Thank you for hosting!

I will attend, probably with a plus 1. I'll have to think about the theme a bit to see what I can dream up.

To Joel F - I actually have some fond memories of "Golden" Restaurants. Like the time a waitress at the Golden ? Restaurant at Lincoln Leavitt and Montrose defended herself from a misbehaving customer with the telephone receiver (back in the days when telephone receivers were huge, sturdy and could be used as weapons.)

A date I can actually make, and at a location far more convenient for me than most? Unpossible.

Please sign me up, I actually have a couple of good ideas that fit the theme already and would love to finally make it to an exchange.

Me too please! I'm going to attempt financiers. If it makes a tiny batch (as I suspect it might) I'll supplement with an equally tiny side dish.

I will either bring a bread pudding with golden raisins and cinnamon, or I may bring a savory baked concoction to contribute towards dinner. (I am better at savory baked dishes than desserts.)

My pal Ruth is still coming up with ideas for her golden dessert contribution.

I just noticed the final episode of the Great British Baking Show is at 6:30 pm this evening.

A group watch could be very interesting.
