Last year, I'd seen an Indian/Pakistani place setting up for Iftar, after we'd just finished eating too much banchan at San Soo Kab San, in Morton Grove.

Well, this isn't that place-- a new tenant has been there just a couple months: Mr. Broast "Home of the Zinger Burger."
The online menu (link below) looks like ordinary fast food, with Peri Peri Chicken being the most exotic thing there, plus a bevvy of fried veg in the appetizers.

Now, I had to find out what a Zinger Burger is.

After some fourth-time's-the-charm auto repair in Niles, I stopped in for some lunch.

The Zinger burger, it turns out is a fried chicken sandwich, with cole slaw and spicy mayo.
The guy at the counter graciously offered to swap out the fries for the fried okra I was interested in, in the meal package ($7.99, $6 for weekday lunch, although I would not be surprised if they're less likely to swap out at the lower price).

The okra was only OK: the breading was a little hard instead of light and crisp (Cracker Barrel makes my favorite chain restaurant version). The sandwich, though, was very, very good: a very thick, juicy chicken breast, crunchy crust and slaw, soft bun, and a tasty if not as advertised spicy sauce. They did provide hot sauce, though, which woke things up.

They do have some Indian and Pakistani dishes, may be worth trying on a future visit. LTH North Lunch group, perhaps, when Indian comes up on the cycle next.

I've been to the one out here in Aurora. Though I've not tried the Zinger Burger, I have tried the regular broasted chicken. It's not what you expect when you think of broasted chicken. It definitely has a spicy component to it. The pieces are also a decent size compared to most carry-out places. The fries are actually excellent, as they too are spicy. And the biscuits have a nice sweet touch to them.

I'm really a big fan of the place though I have to admit I can't afford to go there often.
