After an awesome experience on Christmas, I was hoping to hit up Lao Hunan tomorrow, but a buddy of mine is pretty spice averse (without being a total wimp). Has anybody had a good experience eating at LH without a non-stop tongue assault? Does anybody have a recommendation on capsaicin-milder dishes that still pack a flavor punch?

Tai gan if you avoid the chile oil, which on this dish isn't too hard. There's plenty on the menu that will accomdate the heat adverse. Not that I order it, but it's a lg menu and wouldn't be hard to find numerous options your friend might be interested in.

Hi everyone. I admit to thinking that LSC on both my visits was nothing special for Sichuan and similarly Lao Shanghai did not impress me or my wife (who grew up in Shanghai). However, I really want to broaden my knowledge of the different regional cuisines so I am thinking of going to Lao Hunan. Any of the stalwarts of this place want to recommend a meal for two that is authentically Hunan and extremely delicious?

So, do the new owners cooking different food get to keep the GNR?
