    Just received this email . . .

    Join Us For Weekend Brunch!
Featuring specials created by Chef Noah Sandoval

    Dear Friends,

Firstly, thank you all again for your past support of our award winning restaurant Senza - it was an amazing journey.

We now invite you to join us at our Wheat's End Cafe for our informal and affordable brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from10am to 2pm.
(To clarify, the cafe is located at 2873 N. Broadway in Lakeview - formerly Senza).

The a la carte menu is of course 100% gluten free and celiac safe, and there are many dairy-free options.

Our specials have been exclusively created for us by Chef Noah Sandoval:
Two of this week's specials are as delicious as they look:

    - 48 hour Beef Short Rib w. organic potato hash, organic fried eggs and brown butter bernaise
    - House made Popovers - either with or without dairy - with organic poached eggs and sausage gravy.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Wheat's End Cafe, where you will be well taken care of.

Please visit us at http://www.wheatsend.com for more details about our breads, pastries and pasta (which all may be purchased at the cafe).

    Sincerely,

    Susan McMillan and Amelia Fonti

I predict they'll do better with that name, just one reason being that the name now calls out what's differentiating about the restaurant. (In an artful way.)

It is not a new name; Wheat's End existed alongside Senza in the same space for some time. Wheat's end operated as a gluten free bakery/cafe during the morning, then the space transitioned to Senza in the evening. Senza and Wheat's End had the same owners. The hours for Wheat's End have now expanded some since Senza closed. The e-mail was just announcing that Chef Sandoval has collaborated on creating some brunch items that Wheat's End will be serving on weekends. While both venues were in operation together Chef sometimes would create items for Wheat's End, such a very delicious chili last year.

I knew that Wheat's End was owned by the same folks as had owned Senza in the same location; I didn't know it existed all along in the same space in the morning hours. Interesting.

So, basically, it's not a case of Wheat's End supplanting the defunct Senza, so much as Wheat's End being the sole surviving part of the Wheat's End/Senza combo? Maybe they eventually will expand (as Wheat's End) beyond breakfast and brunch. I still say it's a good name for their business! :)

Correct about Wheat's End being the sole survivor - here is a Zagat article from a year ago referencing Wheat's End Cafe at Senza: https://www.zagat.com/b/chicago/foodie- ... free-pasta

Agree it is a clever name.
