We're meeting up for a friend's birthday party this Saturday at Underground Retrocade in West Dundee and they asked me for food suggestions....not sure I've ever been to West Dundee, so I figured someone here would have some ideas. I don't know what our time frame is, whether this will be earlier or later in the day, so lunch and dinner ideas are welcome. Something in the $25 or less per person range, and any cuisine.

The place has an all-day pass, so we could leave and come back, so it doesn't have to be within the immediate area (the arcade is at Rt. 72 and the Fox River)- within 5 miles is fine.

    Thanks!

West Dundee has a pretty good brewery/tavern. Check out Emmett's.

Those two are the best options right around there. A good breakfast/lunch spot also very nearby is Benedict's. They're not open for dinner. http://www.benedictseggs.com/ 8 S. River Street, East Dundee.

In Elgin, the casino has great burgers. They also have a buffet (I haven't been). The Walnut Room and Elgin Public House.

Another dinner option is Port Edward, a seafood-focused restaurant in Algonquin, just north of West Dundee. It's been around a long time (50 years). I haven't been there in quite a while, so I don't know how it's doing these days.

We ended up walking across the river to a burger and frozen custard place called Van's. It was really good! Cute building- an old filling station/garage. Big, juicy burgers with great buns and rich frozen custard.

I can't get my images to not be upside-down, so here's a link to the Facebook album (it's a public link- you don't need to be my FB friend or even have a Facebook account.)

That place looks great! Might have to take a little drive there this summer. Thanks.
