Please join us to honor this year's GNR Award recipients at the annual GNR Awards Banquet on Monday April 20 at 6:00 p.m. at Bar DeVille (GNR Class of 2009), located at 701 N. Damen Avenue. The event will celebrate this year's 18 new inductees, and feature foods and beverages from GNR favorites from past years.
On The Menu (subject to change and availability):
APPETIZERS: (6:00 - 7:00 pm)
Big Jones - Pickles*, Pimento Cheese, Benne Crackers, cheese straws
Calumet Fisheries - Garlic & Pepper Smoked Salmon, Smoked Trout platter with whipped cream cheese and crackers
Psistaria Greek Taverna - Tzatziki*, Taramosalata, Melitzanosalata*, Spicy Feta*, Skordalia*, Fava Dip* & Pita
Rainbow Thai - Issan and Sai Ua Sausages
DINNER: (7:00 - 8:00 pm)
Smoque - BBQ Brisket, Mac & Cheese - Barry Sorkin on-hand manning the carving station
Riviera Italian Imports - Will Special, Veg Sandwich* served with Bari Giardiniera
Nha Hang Vietnam - Cold Duck Salad, Lotus Root Salad with Shrimp
Birreria Zaragoza - Birria, tortillas, Molcajeta
Go 4 Food - Millionaire Style Fried Rice, On Choy in Fermented Tofu*
Fat Rice - Portuguese Chicken, Vegetable Curry*
Psistaria Greek Taverna - Paschalini Salad*
*Vegetarian
DESSERT: (8:45 - 9:30)
Scooters - Custard, Flavor TBD
Pleasant House Bakery - items TBD
BEVERAGES: (throughout the event, cash bar)
Bar DeVille - Cocktails, Beer, non-alcoholic beverages
**Cost: $50 (+ cash bar)
**The cost is $50 per person (plus a $3.74 fee charged by EventBrite.com). There will be a cash bar throughout the evening, so attendees will have the option of drinking as they prefer. Each attendee will also receive the official 2015 GNR Poster (faithfully compiled by stevez). Tickets are non-refundable but transferable.
The event will begin at 6:00 with appetizers and beverages. The meal, served buffet-style, will begin at approximately 7:00, The awards presentation will follow, at around 8:00. Dessert will be served after the awards ceremony, at approximately 8:45.
Space is limited and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are interested in attending, please post here and we will send you a PM containing detailed sign-up information and instructions on how to purchase your tickets; a limit of 2 per LTH member. These PMs will be sent out in the order in which those requesting tickets have posted on this thread. Unlike in previous years, we will not be holding back spots for successful nominators. So, if you've nominated a place and want to attend the banquet, please purchase your tickets asap after you receive your PM.
Your space at the event will be confirmed after you pay for your tickets at EventBrite.com, using the link that will be sent to you via PM. Once your tickets are purchased, we will add your name(s) to the 'official' list of attendees, which will be maintained on this thread. Ticket sales will close at 4 pm CT on Saturday April 18 so that we can provide ourselves with a firm head count and enough lead time to inform those on the waiting list (should there be one) whether they can attend or not.
GNR Recipients have been contacted directly, and will be provided with complimentary tickets. However, if you'd like to follow up with your nominee about whether or not they will attend, that would be very much appreciated. Please PM me if you have any information to pass on.
So, to recap, everyone queues up here. PM's will be sent out in the order in which posts are made here. You will be confirmed once you have purchased your tickets.
Other Important Information:
Who can attend: Due to the nature of the venue, this is strictly a 21-and-over event. No one under 21 will be admitted, under any circumstances.
Seating: Bar DeVille is a lounge with lots of casual seating. This will not be a formal, sit-down dinner event. We plan to have plenty of seating available but expect that folks will be courteous, not camp out in their seats all night, and share the seating with the other attendees.
Parking: Bar DeVille is located at the corner of Damen and Huron. Please carpool or use public transportation, as parking in this area is very limited. Street parking is available on Damen and Chicago Avenues, as well as on the side streets west of Damen, south of Superior. Parking is permit-ONLY on the streets east of Damen and most other streets near DeVille.
