Lincoln Park Zoo - Lunch + 6 yr, Old

Howdy. Just lookin for anything worth a visit that might be interesting, that's close. I kinda have a thing for the Sambal Fish Tacos at Del Seoul, so that's a front runner (along with a banana nutella empanada for desert down the block.) The thing about Del Seoul tho, is that pretty much everything else is kinda "blah." I also just don't want to overlook anything that might be good for the kiddo. Anything goes, he eats anything and everything. If you have anything, throw some stuff at me to check out for eats while we're walking around the Nature Museum and the zoo. It'll gimme something to do on my phone.

I support your choice of RJ Grunt's. It will never win any culinary awards, but is a great place for families. I actually think the burgers are pretty good, but if not those, you're sure to find something decent for everyone (their grilled cheese sandwich strikes me as a good option for the child); and it's super-convenient to the zoo. Being right on the park, it almost feels like a part of it.

How about Weiner's Circle. No really. During the day it's a pretty good dog/burger stand with friendly staff as opposed to the shit storm it turns into after dark. Hot dog is decent, char burger with Merkt's is great, and the twice-cooked fries are in my Chicago Top 5.

I have to admit I love Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder as a combo with a zoo visit. Just try to go during off hours (2-4 on weekends is good if that works for you). I love taking kids there--a med bread, one of the crazy huge salads and pizza pot pie --hate if you want but I've never had a bad meal there.

I'd second RJGrunts....With a 6 yr old there is more than enough to keep them busy while waiting for food - including awesome milkshakes. Good selection of decent food and you can't beat the location.

My stepsons love Grunts too--they're older though--so I think they can appreciate the "atmosphere" a bit more. But the food is still good and can't beat the location. And they are on Open Table so that can make things easier.

Aloha Eats could be kinda cool for a 6 year old
