    Hi,

I have bought gelato a few times at Valli's in Arlington Heights. There is a gelato counter next to their bakery counter, and you can buy gelati by the scoop or buy pint containers.

I have never seen gelati at the other store in Hoffman Estates, though.

The store sells 10-12 different flavors of gelato ranging from traditional (a dark and intense chocolate or a sabayon) to flavors designed to appeal to the sweeter preferences of American ice cream eaters(an incredible dense and flavorful banana/caramel and an old fashioned rich butter pecan).

Each flavor that I sampled was rich and sticky the way that good gelato should be, creating a ribbon of richness running between the spoon and the cartonwith each spoonful that was spooned from the pint containers that I bought.

My favorite was a berry combination that was both creamy and deeply flavored with bluberries, raspberries and blackberries.

I spoke with the owners for a while who seem to have a real passion for their product. This is definitely a place worth going out of your way to check out if you're gelato lover.

I drove by this place on the way home today and pulled in to have a gelati and a "nazook," a cinammon and walnut pastry that the Assyrian owner told me is a family recipe -- I especially like the slight sweetness in it, which made it an excellent accompaniment to gelato.

Yes, these folks are very passionate about their biz, and I tried several of the gelati -- I liked the banana/caramel one quite a lot.

Just stopped there with the GF and very tasty! She got a combo cup of chocolate and "whiskey", and I got a combo of mint and "Mexican hot chocolate" - all flavors tasty and delish. The whiskey was a vanilla with bourbon notes, and the Mexican hot chocolate was spiked with cinnamon and cayenne pepper - yeah! I wanted them to have basil gelato, but had to settle for the mint. maybe next time...

Was at bellezza gelato tonight. They have a new flavor sweet corn. Not quite sure what to make of it. I think in the heat of summer it might taste quite refreshing.

I like Massa in Elmwood Park too, but also had a delish gelato at the Whole Foods at the corner of Peterson and Cicero.

I almost started a new thread for this, since I don't think they have their own, but wasn't sure if it was necessary... As much as I like Black Dog, after reading about Bellezza Gelato out on Harlem, I had to give it a try. It was pretty amazing, I have to say. I tried the mint chocolate chip and ended up having a cup of half cappuccino and half dutch chocolate. The flavors were very intense and the texture was perfect. (more stretchy and thick, as opposed to Black Dog which to me is just barely different from ice cream) My Italy-loving husband also approved. Not sure how often we will go back because it's kind of a hike from the city, but it's probably better that way anyways :)

It is delicious. I stopped there around lunchtime and was impressed with the quality. Note: pay first, specifying your desired size, then sample and order. It was a bit busy there, and the system was not explained to me until I after I asked for samples first then tried to order. The owner was consequently quite curt, I felt like an idiot, and I hope they didn't think I was trying to steal gelato.

Yep. Had it in NYC and it is good and is as good or almost as good as anything I've had in Italy. Legitimately good stuff - glad it opened right near where I live :) I think this is going to be a very popular place, especially this summer. The owners are smart too as there's a new residential high rise set to open in a few months right across the street, not even mentioning all the other residential around there (and hotels).

Bella 'Mbriana is making homemade gelato. Great new Italian cafe in the former Ch'ava cafe space.
Yesterday's flavors were Pistachio, Caramel, Banana, Frutas do Bosque and Chocolate.

This place is worth checking out for the gelato and many more reasons.

I wonder if the store on State Street will stay open. Those two locations are awfully close to each other.

Close? On the same stretch of Rue Saint-Luis en L'ille in Paris where Berthillon makes and sells the most famous ice cream in France are at least a few other shops selling the same stuff as well as other stores selling gelato and other ice cream. One of which is Amorino.
