    Sushi Perversity in Chicago: Kizoku

So, I’m chatting on the phone tonight with Eddie of Kizoku, and he let’s fall the rather intriguing mention of a dining experience that mixes Roman decadence with Japanese minimalism: an evening of all-you-can-eat sushi – nibbled off the body of a partially clad girl (actually, what I thought I heard was “pretty much nude,” but I may have been day-dreaming). It’s called Body Sushi, and Eddie tells me it’s going on most nights of the week. Says he first heard about it in Vegas – figured it’d be pretty cool here. Hundred bucks a pop. Enjoy…and please do report back.

You only fixed the first part. She can hardly be a "girl" -- they'd be raided by the vice squad.

As it is, one wonders what the Health Department thinks of naked women as serving vessels -- do they wash her in 150-degree water with sanitizing chemical rinse between uses?

Only speculating, but my guess is that they may use the lady woman person more as a "table" than a "plate" -- i.e., they put a serving vessel upon her and one eats from that. That's class, baby!

I am intending to go to this place, not for the woman-as-furniture-all-you-can sushi (of course!), but for the Italian-French menu they're instituting.

So that's how Kizoku stays in business! I was worried, because every time I walk past the place it seems empty. And every time I've gone in there to eat there have been more people working there than paying customers. But no shortage of fresh fish, and I'd say it's reasonable for what you get.

Now I understand that I'm not seeing the whole story. Somehow, I feel relieved.

I find this to be rather degrading to woman. Yet again, another instance in our society in which rich people can just buy woman for their own entertainment. When will our society evolve.

I doubt you'd get much of an argument about that.

You know, though, that some women might argue that it's empowering to have guys scarf uni off their bellies.

I bet it would be even more empowering for these woman to have the opportunity to make the same amount of money for a skill other than looking good naked on a table.

I do wish there would be more opposition to these types of "entertainments" though.

    Breeeeet!

We have clearly left the subject of food. Not to mention empowering restaurants who stage dopey politically incorrect publicity stunts because they know they can count on a certain sort of reaction.

Keep it on sushi, not politics.

    I loved the poll:

Would you eat sushi served from a human body?

    28.2%
    Yes, sounds yummy! (157 responses)

    38.5%
Not with 10-foot chopsticks (214 responses)

    26.8%
    Depends; whose body? (149 responses)

    6.5%
I prefer whipped cream (36 responses)

I fell into the 6.5% catagory.

    C2,

I found it interesting that most people would give it a shot.

I must assume the whipped cream question was a subtle pop cultural reference to everyone's favorite Herb Alpert record album jacket:

While I am very familiar with the album. I am dense enough, or is it a case of too literal, to really mean whipped cream!

    to whip a dead horse:

This entree popped up on the noon news yesterday(wow those publicists sure can flog a culinary cliche'). At this restaurant the body in question isn't even fully nude(darn health inspectors). The chef claims he first encountered this presentation in Japan a decade ago. Funny, if he watched more TV he'd know that(as I stated in an earlier post) even sitcoms have long since moved on.

I just can't wait for the impending misplaced uproar instigated by wider recognition of this chef's cliche's.

I am so BUMMED. I just called, and the French-Italian menu is not yet in place, which, believe it or not was the reason I wanted to go (not, as you may suspect, to engage in neo-Roman decadent woman-as-platter-of-the-world dining). Rescheduled for 12/3 -- and will report.
