I received a media inquiry, which is asking for Chicago food trivia with their example:

For ex., something like: Chicagoans eat 25,000 tons of deep-dish pizza in a year. That's the same weight as TK cars!

The foods I'm focused on are: Hot dogs, deep dish pizza, Italian beef sandwiches, steakhouses and popcorn. If you have any fun statistics/facts that you'd be willing to share, I'd really appreciate it.

This reminds me of ABC News which often has these outrageous comparisons in their news stories.

    What can you suggest?

    Regards,

Make $#!+ up. The more outrageous the better.

"Every day, Chicagoans use enough neon-green pickle relish to fill an Olympic swimming pool"

"Chicagoans have lower cholesterol and obesity rates, owed to their indulgence in deep-dish pizza"

"The stuffed deep dish pizza was invented by Edward Schwartz and Jordan O'Malley (later of Edwardo's and Giordano's) when a truck plowed through the back wall of their pizza joint on Halsted in 1972, and the oven tipped over, forcing pizzas on top of each other. The result was delicious."
What is patriotism, but the love of good things we ate in our childhood?

Did you know that Shrimp de Johnge was actually invented by a very short guy named John, who was remarkably bad at spelling? It was only decades later that someone decided to add shellfish to the dish.
