Anyone been to the Chicago outpost of this place on Oak St.? I was at the Las Vegas chapter a couple of times some years ago, and liked it fine, but am interested in any opinions about the Chicago location. Thanks.

On a relative steakhouse scale: completely unremarkable.

    Thanks, Ron.

I'm guessing that in the remarkable category would belong such as David Burke's. How would you rate Del Frisco versus such stalwarts as Morton's and Joe's?

Overall, I'd put it on a par with Morton's and slightly below Joe's.

I went with a group earlier this year. I think the private room and service we received were very good. The food was fine to good. The wine list seemed outrageous to me (even by steakhouse standards).

I liked the private room experience, but I think when we consider venues for this event next year, we will look elsewhere.

Also, I was surprised to see how quickly the dining room cleared out. If I recall, it was mostly empty by 10. Maybe that's a Gold Coast thing.

    Yes, definitely.

I would guess that the remarkable category might also include RPM Steak and Bavette's. And that's for the food, not just for their difficulty in obtaining a reservation without planning many weeks in advance (a problem which does not seem to afflict Burke's).

I agree that we have many more steakhouses where you can get a very good steak dinner. The fact that there are so many decent ones makes them unremarkable - but this is A GOOD THING.

We went to Joe's (not for the first, second, third, or even fourth time) and enjoyed ourselves.

    Appreciate the discussion.

Unremarkable for the steaks. The wine list is excellent. Overpriced, yes, but if you really want some great wines, they have them.

Only went once, though; the food was so mediocre I never went back.
