My wife loves the Tonkatsu ramen at Wasabi.
What ramen from Santouka at Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights would be most like that at Wasabi?
Any other suburban ramen that would be similar?

Probably the tonkatsu ramen would be the most similar. I like the spicy version. YMMV.

I had the Tonkatsu ramen at Ramen House Shinchan in Palatine on Saturday and it was very good.

I've had Wasabi's ramen three times in the last two weeks, and Santouka's ramen yesterday. I'd go with the spicy ramen with pork cheek since you're used to the tender pieces of pork (and possibly the spice umami addition) at Wasabi. If you're getting a combo (egg/natto/salmon/etc), be sure to look carefully at how it adds up. My first order came to $21+. I then cancelled it and got serious 'tude from the counter guy, but it was worth the $3 it saved me.

Why are you mad at the "counter guy" for charging you for what you ordered?

Who said I was mad? In the moment his annoyance was comical if anything. The OP asked for comparisons between Wasabi and Santouka, so I offered my opinion and what I thought was a helpful ordering tip. What are your thoughts on how the two compare?

Shinchan is my favorite for all the ramen, and especially the Tonkatsu.

I had the Shoyu this weekend and it, too, was excellent. The Tiwan Ramen is incredibly spicy, way past my comfort zone. We figured out this weekend that if you order the spicy ground pork with scallion side dish, you can spice it up as little or as much as you want.

And the fried chicken wings are the best, absolute crack. Crispy, peppery, perfectly cooked. I had to stop myself from ordering a second order!
