Hi- I just ran across an article in the New York Times about how the average American consumes California food products that require the use of 300 gallons of water per week to grow. It goes into detail how much water is required to grow a particular food item such as spinach in California. That is why it is important for us to buy food that has been grown locally as much as possible. Here is a link to the article.
