The popular and well known Indian Restaurant Indian Gardens opened up an outpost in Schiller Park. It is called Mantra and it is so opulent..
http://www.mantrachicago.com/menu.htmFirst of all let me say this has got to be the most Opulent and luxurious restaurant I have ever been in. No expense has been spared on the details of this restaurant. They have a patio if you wish to dine outside.
The hostess and staff were very nice.
The menu is long and has quite an extensive list of different dishes with explanations. I have heard that the breads of India are phenomenal and noticed they have an item on the menu.. which is a basket of different types of breads for $12. I got that and I had so many different types of bread. Most of them were naan breads but with different fillings. Very good. The garlic naan was so good.
I went during lunch time on the 2nd day of business. There were a few people. I ordered as my entrée the butter chicken which is probably my favorite indian dish... so far. I have not tried a lot of the things on most indian food menus but this is one I am familiar with. It was very very good. The chicken pieces were chunky. The sauce was not too hot nor spicy.
Over all my experience has been a positive one. This is just a short ride from OHare Airport and the Rosemont Commercial district.
The address is 9438 Irving Park Road in Schiller Park, just west of River Road and East of Mannheim.
If you are not that familiar with Indian food and would like to try a few items at a time.. this place is great.
But I have to tell you.. It is very swanky.
The prices were reasonable though.
